General Education Department Goals
Goal: Each program will establish data collection procedures, or a tracking procedure, for their students.
Program counselors/directors, working with the Education Department Director, will determine appropriate data for them to collect
Program counselors/directors will create an electronic data collection procedure and a regular process to back up the data.
As much past data will be collected and recorded as possible
Data collection will be an ongoing activity for each program
Goal: Tribal students’ school enrollment will be tracked from admittance into first grade through graduation or other conclusion of public school education
- Department personnel will work closely with public school officials to keep track of students as they move between schools and districts.
- Department personnel will gain parental permission as (or if) required by state and federal regulations before gathering the data.
- Pursue agreements with school districts to make this happen (Rosebud Sioux Tribe and the Navajo Nation have reached agreements with the States and school districts to obtain this information).
Goal: Education Department personnel will work with other Tribal programs to improve student success.
- Education Department personnel will be aware of support programs offered through other departments and how they can help students access them
- Education Department personnel, especially URHS staff, may integrate some of their procedures with other Tribal programs.
