 Adult Education Program

The Adult Education program helps Tribal members earn high school credits towards a high school diploma.  Each student takes the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) to determine the appropriate level in each subject area.  The students work with an educator to develop a Student Education Occupation Plan to help determine post-graduation plans.  The career goals and the results from the TABE are then combined to determine a class schedule for each student.

The adult student works in class with an instructor and individually on the computers through an automated learning process system.  A computerized menu of subjects is used by the individuals for their course studies.  The student attains competency in each tested area to progress to the next lesson.  Upon completing the required tests and coursework, the student earns credit for the course.

The Adult Education program also provides pre-GED testing on every 2nd Wednesday of each month.  Tribal members may take the test for free and non-tribal members pay a $10 fee.  Each section of the five part test needs to be passed with a score of 45% or better before the individual can take the Official GED test.

Two driving related courses are provided through the Adult Education Program.  Every quarter a Driver’s Education Class is offered for interested adults, 18 and over, to renew their driver’s license.  Tribal members pay a $50 fee and Non-tribal members pay a $150 fee.  A defensive driving course is offered two or three times a year for students who need to improve their driving skills and/or need to have points taken off their driving record.
