Library Program

The Ute Indian Tribe Library provides services to the community and the Uintah River High School students.  It has over 1000 books in the areas of children’s storybooks, juvenile fiction, adult fiction, science fiction, western, autobiography, history, animals, National Geographic literature, Native American history books and maps, periodicals, self-help, how-to books, general education instruction manuals, GED study booklets, law books, encyclopedias, children’s literature, and local and regional newspapers, including the Ute Bulletin.

The library has its own copy machine, laminator, paper cutters, film projector, audio/visual cassettes, and slides.  These items are available for use by the community during regular library hours.  Some fees are charged to cover expenses.

The library provides the community with access to computers donated by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  The Foundation provided complete computer systems including hardware, monitors, printers, scanners and software.  Children’s computer programs include ones from Dr. Seuss, Bernstein Bears, and Pickles and Crew.  The computers also contain programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, publishing programs, Adobe Photoshop, print shop, among others.

The library continues to add to its collection on a regular basis and the community is welcome to come in and check out books, use reference materials in the library, and employ the computers to access the internet.
