In language arts in the Duchesne County School District (DCSD), the majority of American Indian students (140) were near mastery or at partial mastery, but 45 students had only minimal mastery of the subject matter. The Uintah School District (USD) American Indian percentages have a similar pattern to the DCSD percentages, until the West Junior High School numbers are studied. At West over 65% of the students, or 135 children, scored at partial or minimal mastery, when this is compared to the Vernal Middle School only 22.5% of their students fell into these two categories. Only in the Todd Elementary school are these patterns reversed, with 65% of the students scoring in the Near Mastery and Mastery categories.
The pattern for mathematics scores follow the same patterns that are evident in the Language Arts scores, again Todd Elementary School reverses the percentages with almost 61% of the American Indian students scoring in the Near Mastery and Mastery categories. In West Junior High School, Uintah River High School, Uintah School District, Duchesne County School District and the overall State results, American Indian students score results show that about 50% of the American Indian students in the Partial and Minimal Mastery categories.
